Located in Pettis County, Missouri, La Monte is a small city with about 1,200 residents. Originally named Boomer, the town was founded in 1866, and some growth came to the area when the railroad extended through the region. There are two schools located here – La Monte Elementary and La Monte High Schools - and they are home to the Vikings.

This small community isn’t home to any major attractions. However, there are some notable businesses in the area. Corona Market is one of the local grocery stores, while convenience items can be picked up at Casey’s General Store. The Roadway BBQ also offers mouth-watering barbecue that is enjoyed by both visitors and residents.

Other attractions and things to do are available in nearby cities and towns. Sedalia hosts the annual Missouri State Fair and is home to historical destinations like the Katy Depot and the Bothwell Lodge State Historic Site. Outdoor lovers enjoy a trip to Knob Noster State Park, which is found in nearby Knob Noster, Missouri.

The weather in La Monte is typical of a southern humid continental climate zone. Winter conditions here are cold, although snowfall is minimal compared to other parts of the U.S. Each year, the region receives only about 14 inches of snow, but temperatures stay cold. Average daily highs reach the low- to mid-30s, but overnight lows fall into the teens or single digits. The right gas or electric furnace can make a big difference in home comfort and safety levels.
